Special Announcement – Coronavirus

March 12, 2020

Dear Fresno Chamber of Commerce members, community partners, and friends:

Like most businesses and organizations worldwide, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce has been monitoring the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and weighing the impact of the virus on our events and activities.

The Chamber has been in contact with the Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH) regarding COVID-19 and is aware of Governor Newsom’s executive order regarding community events larger than 250 people. FCDPH is not currently recommending cancellation of smaller community events, and we anticipate that Chamber programs in March and April will have attendance of less than 250. Therefore, all Chamber programs, activities and events currently slated for March and April will proceed as scheduled at this time. The FCDPH has developed plans to limit new exposure of COVID-19 and address the public’s concerns as they arise.

Our office will remain open during normal working hours. However, in an abundance of caution, we have deployed additional hand sanitizers throughout our facility, have directed Chamber employees to remain home if they display any symptoms, and instituted a temporary “no-handshake” policy.

While Chamber programs will continue, we encourage all attendees to follow hygiene protocols set forth by health officials, including:

  • Wash hands with soap and water
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay away from other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough

The Chamber will continue to utilize our website and social media channels to distribute official information and recommendations from local, state and federal health authorities as appropriate, as well as act as a resource to share information on how businesses and employees can react to the virus and its effects. We recognize that the situation is very fluid, and we will remain in contact with local authorities and evaluate the situation daily to ensure the health and safety of our members, staff and the general public.

Sincerely,

Nathan Ahle
President/CEO
Fresno Chamber of Commerce
