About the Government Affairs Council

GAC Mission Statement

The mission of the Government Affairs Council (GAC) is to provide a basis for the Fresno Chamber of Commerce to act and influence local, state and federal government issues and have a good working relationship with its elected officials, thus creating a favorable and profitable business climate.

Each year, the Chamber takes positions on laws that are being considered at all levels of government. Efforts are continually made to nurture relationships with local, regional and state elected officials and their staff to ensure that our member businesses are represented on issues that might have an impact to our city, region and state.

The Government Affairs Council (GAC) meets monthly (usually the second Wednesday of each month at noon at the Chamber. All members of the Chamber are invited to attend meetings, however, only the members of the GAC are allowed to vote on the agenda items.

How business-friendly are your elected officials?

As part of our organization’s mission to advocate on behalf of our members and promote economic growth and jobs in our community, the Fresno Chamber Government Affairs Council (GAC) works closely with our City Council members, State Legislators and Federal Representatives on issues that affect our regional businesses and economy. The GAC regularly takes  positions on business-related issues, tracks the vote records of our elected officials, and issues a yearly report card. Below are the 2019 Legislative Report Cards for our representatives at the local and state levels.
