Rental housing providers in San Diego face proposals that would restrict fees, tenant screening, and resident services — and the California Apartment Association is hosting a free webinar later this month to walk members through what’s at stake.
San Diego City and County are advancing regulations that would ban fees used to recover operating costs and mandate reusable tenant screening reports, while also extending the grace period for late rent payments and imposing new transparency requirements. San Diego City is also exploring caps on fees housing providers charge residents for services such as parking, storage, and utilities.
The April 28 session, scheduled for 1 p.m., will cover both proposals, CAA’s advocacy strategy, and how members can take action with the San Diego City Council and the Board of Supervisors.
Speakers include Melanie Woods, vice president of local government affairs for CAA’s San Diego Region; Victor Cao, senior vice president of local government affairs for Southern California; and Joshua Howard, executive vice president of local government affairs at CAA.
