Candidates for local races across the Central Valley submitted their campaign finance reports, which were recently published. 

Here’s a look at where the county supervisor candidates stand in Madera, Kings and Tulare counties for the Jan. 1 to April 18 reporting period: 

Madera County Supervisor District 1: Supervisor Jordan Wamhoff has a vast war chest ready to use in his reelection bid. 

  • Wamhoff reported $19,600 in contributions during the period, giving him $174,000 in the bank. 
  • His opponent, Benjamin Martin, did not file a campaign finance report with the county. 

Madera County Supervisor District 2: Supervisor David Rogers did not have a report listed with the county, but he reported for the previous period ending last December that he had $68,600 on hand. 

  • Challenger John Chavez also did not submit a report. 

Madera County Supervisor District 5: Former Asm. Frank Bigelow brought in $6,700 in contributions during the first few months of the year. He has $37,500 in the bank. 

  • Charles “Brook” Allen reported $12,800 in fundraising, yet his expenditures and outstanding debt leaves him in the red with -$4,700 as his ending balance. 
  • Melanie Barker and Mark Reed did not have financial reports filed with the county. 

Kings County Supervisor District 1: Three candidates are lined up to succeed Joe Neves, who is retiring after decades in office. 

  • Neves has endorsed Garrett Gilcrease as his replacement, who raised $48,700 in the period and has $42,200 remaining on hand. 
  • Martin Chavez had a more successful period, bringing in $56,000, yet he has a little less on hand, coming in at $37,600 in the bank. 
  • Stefanie Silveira Chavez raised $25,600 and has $18,000 in the bank. 

Kings County Supervisor District 4: Supervisor Rusty Robinson did not report any fundraising activity for the first part of the year. His report states that he has $655 in the bank. 

  • His competitor, Al Benavides, did not file a report with the county.  

Tulare County Supervisor District 4: Supervisor Eddie Valero has two challengers for his seat: Rudy Mendoza and Ian Bakke. 

  • Valero raised $53,700 in the first part of the year and has $38,800 in his war chest. 
  • Bakke put up a strong showing, raising $49,500 and reporting $62,400 in the bank. 
  • Mendoza did not file a report with the county. 

Tulare County Supervisor District 5: Supervisor Dennis Townsend is running for reelection unopposed. 

  • He did not raise any money during the period and has $27,700 left in the bank.
