Grant Program Aims to Improve Security for Small Businesses in Fresno
FRESNO, CA – In partnership with the City of Fresno and the Fresno Police Department, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce is launching a $100,000 grant program to support local businesses install or expand security camera equipment to combat crime. Starting Tuesday, September 10, Fresno businesses can apply for grants of up to $2,000.
“The Fresno Chamber of Commerce is happy to partner with the City of Fresno to provide this important tool for businesses to combat crime,” said Scott Miller, CEO of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.
“With the launch of this new Small Business Security Camera Rebate Program, Fresno City Council is not just taking action – we are standing firmly with our small businesses, who have weathered so much and continue to be the backbone of our community. By empowering businesses to enhance their security, we’re not only helping to deter crime but also fostering a sense of safety and partnership that will allow them to flourish. Fresno is stronger when we all rise together, and I am committed to doing everything I can to make sure our businesses have the support they need to succeed,” said Council President Annalisa Perea.
“Small businesses are struggling with rising costs like insurance and utility rates; and in recent years, copper wire theft and retail theft have been added to the long list of small businesses expenses. Your City Council is now taking a proactive approach to ensure that we can capture usable footage to work hand in hand with our new Organized Retail Theft taskforce to provide some relief to Fresno’s mom and pop small businesses. As the two business owners on the City Council, I am honored to work with Council President Perea to provide greater peace of mind to an important sector of our local economy,” said Council Vice President Mike Karbassi.
