The California Highway Patrol Coalinga Area seized approximately 1 kilogram of suspected cocaine during an enforcement stop Sunday on I-5 in Fresno County, authorities said.

Officers stopped a 2006 Toyota Camry around 10:07 a.m. for vehicle code violations along Interstate 5, according to CHP. During the stop, an officer observed indicators of criminal activity, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Authorities said officers found a brown bag concealed beneath the front passenger seat containing approximately 1 kilogram of suspected cocaine.

The driver and passenger were arrested at the scene. The narcotics were turned over to the Fresno High Impact Investigations Team for further investigation.

Both suspects were booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges including possession of narcotics for sales, transportation of narcotics for sales, and transportation for sales across noncontiguous counties.

CHP said the estimated street value of the narcotics is about $100,000.
