Campaign finance reports for local elections are in, showing financial divides in Fresno City Council and Fresno County Board of Supervisors races.
Here’s where the finances stand for city council and supervisor candidates for the Jan. 1 to April 18 reporting period:
City Council District 1: Central Unified School District Trustee Naindeep Singh leads the pack to succeed Councilwoman Annalisa Perea, who is running for the Assembly.
- Singh raised $62,000 in the period and has $148,300 in the bank, nearly double the next highest fundraiser.
- State Center Community College District (SCCCD) Trustee Rob Fuentes raised $38,000 and has $75,600 in his war chest.
- Monte Forkas is far behind Singh and Fuentes, having raised $3,300 with $1,600 in the bank.
- Joe Hinojosa, the other candidate in the race, did not submit a campaign finance report.
City Council District 3: Asm. Joaquin Arambula (D–Fresno) has a clear financial lead in the District 3 race. He raised $37,000 and has $66,600 at his disposal.
- Fresno Unified School District Trustee Keshia Thomas trails behind having raised $19,700 and has $66,600 in the bank.
- She is followed by Fernando Alvarez, who raised $4,800 and has $10,900 on hand.
- Tiffany Apodaca had a better period than Alvarez, raising $12,900, but she comes in behind with $8,500 in the bank.
- Candidates Larry Burrus, Charles Montoya and Jalen Swank did not submit reports.
City Council District 5: Incumbent Councilman Brandon Vang leads the District 5 race having raised $72,300 with $67,000 on hand.
- SCCCD Trustee Danielle Parra took in $35,000 in the period and has $36,500 in the bank.
- Jose Leon Barraza trails behind with $27,200 raised, but he has $3,200 left on hand.
- Candidate Nickolas Wildstar did not submit a report.
City Council District 7: Nav Gurm raised nearly three times more than the next candidate, bringing in $93,000 in the period and has $94,100 in his war chest.
- Ariana Martinez Lott raised $32,200 and has $26,800 left in the bank.
- She is followed by AJ Rassamni, who reported $6,400 in fundraising with $15,200 left in the bank.
- Jason Jesada Keomanee did not file a report.
Board of Supervisors District 1: Fresno City Councilman Mike Karbassi holds a substantial financial lead in the race to succeed Supervisor Brian Pacheco, who is running for the Assembly.
- Karbassi raised $188,900 in the period and has $130,700 ready to deploy in his war chest.
- West Hills Community College District Trustee Omar Hernandez and Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco posted similar fundraising numbers, although Hernandez has more money left in the bank.
- Hernandez reported raising $47,700 and has $41,700 on hand, compared to $42,200 raised by Pacheco, who has $26,000 left.
- Lupe Flores raised $11,600 and has $2,600 in the bank.
- Former SCCCD Trustee Eric Payne raised $2,000 and has $1,900 left.
- Firebaugh City Councilman Felipe Perez did not submit a report.
Board of Supervisors District 4: Former Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims was endorsed by Supervisor Buddy Mendes when he announced his retirement at the end of his term.
- Mims is positioned to succeed Mendes on the board, based on her strong financial showing.
- She raised $72,600 and has $183,400 in the bank.
- Narinder “Nick” Sahota had the best reporting period out of the remaining candidates, raising $49,500, but he is left with $15,500 in the bank.
- Parlier Mayor Alma Beltran and Huron Mayor Rey Leon reported similar fundraising numbers. Beltran raised $7,000 and has $3,800 in the bank, while Leon raised $6,400 and has $3,400 left.
- Charlie Soto did not file a report.
