The two leading GOP candidates for California Governor will return to the Central Valley ahead of the June primary election.
Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco will participate in a forum held by the Fresno County and City Republican Women Federated in Clovis.
What we’re watching: Hilton and Bianco are scheduled to participate in the forum on May 22 at the Regency Event Center in Clovis.
- State Sen. Shannon Grove (R–Bakersfield) will moderate the candidate forum, which is part of the organization’s America 250 dinner hosted by Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig and Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce.
- Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., with a social hour set from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. leading into the program.
- Other public figures will present questions to the candidates during the forum, including Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp, former Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, William Bourdeau of Bourdeau Farms, Asm. David Tangipa (R–Clovis), Jonathan Keller of the California Family Council and Matthew Dildine, the CEO of Fresno Mission.
What they’re saying: “This forum comes at a pivotal moment for our state,” the organization said in a statement. “Bringing the top Republican gubernatorial candidates to Clovis allows Valley families, farmers, and business owners to get real answers on the issues that affect their daily lives, from water infrastructure to public safety and the skyrocketing cost of living.”
What it costs: Tickets start at $100 for members of the Fresno County and City Republican Women Federated.
- General admission for non-members costs $150, and the organization is accepting sponsorships ranging from $1,200 to $5,000.
