Lee’s Air, Plumbing & Heating is taking a new approach to summer community outreach: free ice cream.

The Fresno-based home services company is rolling out a fully branded ice cream truck this summer, with plans to visit neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, community events and local gathering spots in the Fresno area.

The company says the truck will offer complimentary frozen treats with no purchase required. The effort is being promoted as a first-of-its-kind initiative for a home services company in the Central Valley.

“Our mission is to serve people — our customers, our coworkers, and our community — and have fun doing it,” said Derek Franks, chief operating officer of Lee’s Air. “An ice cream truck is about as fun as it gets. We just want to show up in the neighborhoods we serve and do something good. It’s hot outside — here’s some ice cream, on the house.”

Beginning this week, residents can request visits from the truck for events such as block parties, children’s birthdays, school activities and workplace gatherings. Requests are being accepted through Lee’s social media channels and at LeesIceCreamTruck.com.

“We want people to feel like this is their truck,” said Josué Solis, vice president of marketing for Lee’s Air.

The truck’s first announced stops include the Boys & Girls Club Zimmerman Club from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25; Sierra Vista Mall from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 27; Fancher Creek from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2; Harlan Ranch from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9; and Carriage House Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16.

Additional planned appearances include Crow & Wolf Brewing on Friday, July 3, and a tentative stop at Chukchansi Park for a Fresno Grizzlies game on Thursday, July 23. Times for those appearances are expected to be announced later.

Company leaders say the idea is simple: bring a familiar summer treat directly to the people and places Lee’s serves and have fun doing it.

“The ice cream truck is a reflection of who we are,” said Damon Bromagem, CEO of Lee’s Air. “We take care of people. If we can make someone’s day a little cooler along the way, that’s a win.”

Lee’s Air said free ice cream will be available while supplies last, and not all requested stops are guaranteed. The company plans to announce additional summer stops through its social media channels.
